Veteran actresses Tina Mba and Kate Henshaw are set to headline The Letter, a new stage production written and produced by Faith Akinola.
Presented by Mustard Tree Productions, the play explores identity, rejection, societal pressure, emotional healing and restoration through the story of a young bride whose expectations surrounding one of the most significant moments of her life are suddenly disrupted.
Set against a backdrop of celebration and family anticipation, The Letter follows the protagonist as she navigates disappointment, cultural expectations, unsolicited advice and public scrutiny.
Speaking about the production, Akinola said the play examines how people respond when life takes an unexpected turn.
“At its heart, The Letter asks what happens when the life you imagined suddenly changes, and whether disappointment should ever be allowed to determine how you see yourself. It is a story about finding your way back to identity, hope and wholeness,” she said.
The production combines drama, music and symbolic staging to tell its story, taking audiences through the protagonist’s personal struggle and journey towards restoration.
Mba and Henshaw are joined by Oluchi Odi, Mich Straw and other cast members.
The Letter will be staged at Terra Kulture V.I Lagos on Saturday, September 26, with two shows scheduled for 4pm and 7pm.
Founded by Akinola, Mustard Tree Productions focuses on creating stories and experiences across stage, screen and live entertainment. The production is supported by Providus Unity, Lizza Atelier, Joes Energy House and Mine Studios.
