“I’ll Beat You Like a Thief!” — Phyna, Nkechi Blessing Set for Boxing Bout

Big Brother Naija winner Phyna and Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday are taking their social media war into a boxing ring. The celebrity bout is set for October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.

Promoters Balmoral Group billed the fight as “Phyna vs Nkechi” under the Chaos in the Ring series. DAZN Boxing is attached to the announcement. The card is powered by Bet9ja and will stream live on DAZN and SuperSport. The same series has already put Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe in gloves. Undercard names and ticket prices have not been released.

The organisers framed it as more than a stunt.

“Plot twist? Let’s see what the women can do. Phyna VS Nkechi. The rivalry is real. Now, let’s see who backs it up when the bell rings.”

The rivalry started online. On September 17, Nkechi posted a video telling Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, to stop picking fights on social media. She presented herself as the senior voice. Phyna shot back that they were neither friends nor business partners and called the actress “grandmother.” Hours later, the boxing poster dropped.

Phyna did not wait. In an Instagram video she said:

“Nkechi, if I catch you. I promise you, it’s on. Thank God for Chaos in the Rings, I will show you what’s not good.”

Her caption was blunter.

“I love how they didn’t let me waste my strength in going back and forth with you, I will beat you like a thief. Let’s get in the dam ring.”

Nkechi treated the threat like comedy, then like a wager. Under Phyna’s video she wrote that she was “caught shaking” after the BBNaija winner promised to beat the living daylights out of her. On her own poster she told Phyna:

“It has burst… you don’t want to go this route with me. Put your money on me because it’s a sure odd. I don’t want to talk too much till October 1st.”
