Nigerian singer Orezi has drawn a hard line over the Lindsay Clancy case, warning that any friend who backs the American mother should consider their friendship finished.
The Shuperu hitmaker posted the warning on Instagram as debate over the Massachusetts trial spilled across Nigerian social media.
“If you are my friend And I see that you support Lindsay Clancy in any type of way, no matter what angle you decide to judge her situation from. Consider our friendship over,” Orezi wrote.
He continued:
“Your reasoning is impaired and I can’t deal with such. Because if it gets to the point where me and you argue about the matter, we will end up in a fight.”
He pointed to the deaths of Clancy’s three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, who was eight months old.
“That woman strangled her 3 kids to death .. 3 oooh.. one of them was 8 months old. Huh. What kind of empathy am I supposed to have for that kind of person? She should Rot in jail !!!!”
On January 24, 2023, Lindsay Clancy killed her three children at the family home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, then tried to take her own life. She pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder. Her lawyers argued she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible. Prosecutors said she planned the killings. On September 4, 2026, a judge declared a mistrial after the jury deadlocked. The charges still stand, and prosecutors may try her again. A follow-up hearing is set for September 29.
The singer’s outburst lands in a wider Nigerian conversation that has already pulled in other public figures. Some users have framed the case as a mental health tragedy. Others, like Orezi, say no explanation can soften the loss of three children and that sympathy for Clancy is a deal-breaker.
