Erigga had written on X on Tuesday, September 1:
“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn.”
He did not name Davido. That did not stop the Afrobeats star from treating the line as a personal shot.
On Wednesday night, Davido quoted the post and fired back:
“We’re not the ones that said your father should not be rich. Shoutout to the ones that came from family of money and still grind to the top. Get out of here with that your useless motivation … imbecile.”
The reply exploded across X, pulling tens of thousands of likes and thousands of quote tweets within hours. Some users sided with Davido and said Erigga knew exactly who would feel that “family money” line. Others said the OBO singer walked into a fight nobody invited him to.

Erigga later posted a viral Bella Shmurda interview clip instead of a long written clapback. In the video, Bella says, “You’ll just want to relax, but problem will still come to you where you’re relaxing.” In this timeline, that line reads as Erigga’s point that he was not hunting Davido. The flare-up taps an old sore in Nigerian pop. Davido, son of late businessman Adedeji Adeleke, has spent years answering the “rich kid” charge even after packing arenas and scoring global hits.
