Nollywood actor and human rights activist Yomi Fabiyi has issued a strong public appeal for the postponement of late actress Temitope Osoba’s burial, insisting that an autopsy and full police investigation must take place first.
In a formal statement released through his organisation, Break The Silence Foundation, and shared on Instagram, Fabiyi expressed condolences while highlighting concerns over the circumstances surrounding the 40-year-old actress’s death on August 5, 2026.
“On behalf of our volunteers and board of trustees of our human rights organization, we express our deepest condolences over the sudden demise of our beloved sister Temitope Osoba,” the statement began.
Fabiyi stressed the “crucial need to delay the burial” due to what he described as possible criminal angles, including rape allegations and likely negligence. He noted that no autopsy or forensic examinations appear to have been conducted ahead of the planned interment on August 13, 2026.
“It is crystal clear that no autopsy and forensics examinations have been done or any in view before her interment on the 13th August 2026. The consequences of such hurried burial will contravenes the laws of Lagos State irrespective of our emotions and sentiments,” the statement read.
He warned that proceeding without police approval could force later exhumation, risking compromised evidence and complex toxicology results.
“Whoever orders or approves such burial may face criminal prosecution under the law.”
In the post’s caption, Fabiyi reiterated:
“Please, guys, for the sake of proper accountability, humanity, human rights, and rule of law, if the AUTOPSY is not ongoing, please let it be done before burial. There goes the need to allow for proper POLICE INVESTIGATION in this matter as the deceased fought so hard to leave marks and traces to nudge for investigation. Please, do not hurriedly bury, so there won’t be a need to disrupt her peaceful rest. A little patience is required.”
The actor added that his organisation would follow up with the Lagos State Police Command to track any investigation into possible foul play.
“Let us do this for the sake of justice and humanity.”
Osoba’s burial had been scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Saint James Anglican Church in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, with interment to follow at the local cemetery. Her family had earlier urged the public to disregard unverified reports about the cause of her death and to allow them privacy to grieve.

Fabiyi’s call comes amid ongoing public discussions and claims surrounding the actress’s final days, including statements from her fiancé and the release of private videos she had shared before her passing.
