Veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey has expressed deep disappointment over the prolonged feud between twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye of the defunct P-Square group, declaring that their dispute destroyed what he called Africa’s biggest music brand.
Speaking in an interview with Goldmyne TV that began trending on Saturday, the ghetto music legend said the impact of the brothers’ disagreement went far beyond the duo themselves because of the massive following and influence P-Square built over the years.
“P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn’t for them alone,” Daddy Showkey stated firmly.
He stressed that entertainers owe much of their success to their fans and must therefore consider the public when making major career decisions.
“As an entertainer I can decide to lock myself in my room and celebrate my 50 years on stage. I am celebrating because it is the people that made me Daddy Showkey,” he explained, drawing from his own long career.
He added,
“If the people have made you, you are not considering them but considering how much you guys are making.”
The comments come amid the lingering public dispute involving Peter and Paul Okoye, as well as their elder brother Jude Okoye, who previously managed the group. The once-dominant music duo, known for massive hits and continent-wide fame, has gone through multiple splits and a short-lived reunion, leaving fans frustrated by the ongoing family conflict.
Daddy Showkey urged the brothers to set aside their differences for the sake of their relationship and future generations.
“Dragging themselves like this, the future will tell. No matter what, you guys are brothers. No matter what, you should look for a place to resolve things because you have children,” he said.
He issued a further warning:
“Tomorrow you will carry this beef to your children.”
