Nigerian disc jockey, entrepreneur and philanthropist Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has disclosed that she receives marriage proposals on a daily basis.

In an interview with Marie Claire published on Thursday, the billionaire’s daughter opened up about her academic journey, career and approach to life while addressing the constant pressure around marriage.

“I get marriage proposals every day. And I’m not even talking about fans. Everyone is apparently trying to help me when I have not asked to be helped,” she said.

Cuppy, who holds degrees from New York University, the University of Oxford and King’s College London and is pursuing yet another qualification, joked that her continued studies serve as a clever response to family expectations.

“I call it avoidance of marriage. Every time my grandma asks, ‘Where’s your husband?’, I show her a new certificate,” she revealed.

Beyond the marriage talk, the entertainer shared a light-hearted moment involving her father, billionaire businessman Femi Otedola. She recalled how someone recently stopped him at an airport for a photo after recognising him as “Cuppy’s dad.”

“It made me feel good because normally, I’m Femi’s daughter, but on that day, to that person, he was my dad,” she said.

Cuppy also distinguished between charity and true philanthropy.

“Charity is just giving because you want to. Being a philanthropist, though, is about making a lasting difference. It’s about long-lasting results.”

Her comments highlight both the public fascination with her personal life and her deliberate focus on education and impact-driven work. While admirers continue to propose, Cuppy appears more interested in collecting certificates and creating lasting change than rushing into marriage.
