Popular comedian and master of ceremonies MC Edo Pikin has strongly cleared the air following reports that Seun Kuti stormed out of Peller and Jarvis’ wedding over an alleged joke about Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
In a detailed video statement, Edo Pikin denied that any of the three MCs at the reception compared Wizkid to the Afrobeat legend. He described the circulating claims as pure negativity and a misunderstanding.
“I don’t know why we are always attracted to negativity and bad news. There were three MCs at Peller’s wedding. Nobody compared Wizkid to Baba Fela at the wedding; we were only talking about Wizkid and Davido, Ronaldo and Messi,” he said.
Edo Pikin explained that the conversation involved light-hearted comparisons between popular stars before he advised the DJ not to raise the music volume excessively or “behave like people who say they’re bigger than Baba Fela.”
Addressing Seun Kuti directly, he added:
“Egbon Seun Kuti, we don’t know what you want. When someone calls out Baba Fela, it’s a problem; when someone praises Fela, it’s also still a problem. You didn’t calm down to listen; you just angrily walked away and missed the rice and pounded yam and all the sweet food served at the wedding. Next time, calm down and listen deep.”
The comedian also defended his fellow MCs, insisting none of them made any disrespectful remarks about Fela. He accused some bloggers of twisting the event to create controversy and urged the public to verify information before spreading it.
The statement comes after videos showed Seun Kuti leaving the star-studded wedding of TikTok couple Peller (Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja) and Jarvis (Amadou Elizabeth Aminata) on August 1, 2026, while saying “We are in the wrong place.” Initial reports suggested the walkout was triggered by a joke that Wizkid is bigger than Fela.
Edo Pikin’s clarification has now shifted the conversation, with many online praising him for speaking up while others continue to debate whether Seun overreacted.
As of the time of filing this report, Seun Kuti has yet to respond publicly to the MC’s video.
