IK Ogbonna Exposes Fake EFCC FBI Romance Scam Allegations Against Him

Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has strongly denied viral reports linking him to an alleged $75,000 international romance scam involving the EFCC and FBI, describing the claims as malicious lies designed to tarnish his reputation.

The controversy erupted on Friday when unverified online reports claimed the handsome actor had been invited for questioning over a supposed romance fraud case involving a 49-year-old American woman named Kimberly Ann from Michigan, who allegedly sent over $65,000 after an online relationship.

In a clear and firm statement shared on his Instagram story on Saturday, July 11, 2026, IK Ogbonna slammed the allegations and issued a stern warning to his fans and the public.

“Disclaimer. My attention has been drawn to a false story circulating online, alleging that I have been invited to be questioned by the EFCC and the FBI over a romance scam. This report is completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis. Unfortunately, this is not the first time my name, image, and identity have been used by unknown individuals operating fake social media accounts to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.”

The actor, known for his roles in numerous hit movies, reiterated his zero tolerance for fraud:

“I would like to state once again that I do not support, encourage, or participate in any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity. I have never authorised anyone to represent me online, solicit money on my behalf, or engage in private conversations pretending to be me.”

He urged vigilance, stressing that only verified accounts belong to him.

“All of my official social media accounts are VERIFIED. If an account claiming to be me is not verified, it is fake. I do not operate secret, backup, or private accounts to communicate with fans.”

Ogbonna further warned:

“If you are chatting with, sending money to, or engaging with anyone claiming to be me on social media, please know that it is NOT me. I do not privately entertain fans in that capacity, nor do I request financial assistance, gifts, investments, or any form of payment from anyone.”

“Please remain vigilant and be extremely careful of impersonators and catfish accounts that exploit my identity to scam unsuspecting people,” he added.

The actor appreciated fans who verify information before sharing it, noting that such caution helps fight misinformation and protects innocent victims from online fraud.

IK Ogbonna joins several other Nollywood stars who have previously issued similar warnings to protect their brands and the public.
