Nigerian socialite, music promoter, and controversial figure Samson Erinfolami Balogun, popularly known as Sam Larry, has broken his silence from his hospital bed following a horrific car accident that claimed the life of his bouncer.
In a live video update, the embattled entertainer revealed the extent of his injuries while expressing gratitude for surviving the ordeal.
“I’m doing well. I’m expected to be discharged from the hospital soon. The only issue I’m facing right now is that I can’t walk, so I’ll be using a wheelchair, and God knows till when. But, I’m grateful to be alive,” he said.
Sam Larry also addressed swirling negative speculation surrounding the incident, declaring his innocence.
“I’ve seen a lot of negative speculation surrounding this accident. The God I serve knows the truth; I am innocent,” he added.
The ghastly crash occurred in the early hours of July 4, 2026, along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos State. Sam Larry’s vehicle reportedly collided with a trailer, resulting in severe damage to the car. His bouncer, identified in reports as Wale, tragically lost his life at the scene. Sam Larry sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains under medical care.
This latest brush with death comes just two years after Sam Larry survived another serious car accident in 2024, which he publicly credited to divine intervention at the time.
The incident reignited debate, linking Sam Larry to his controversial past. Tied to Naira Marley and Mohbad’s 2023 death, a viral video showed him allegedly assaulting Mohbad. Outrage followed as he was arrested, detained for five weeks, and released on bail in November 2023.
Since his release, Sam Larry has attempted to rebuild his image through charitable acts, but public sentiment remains deeply divided. The latest accident has brought fresh waves of speculation and commentary, with some expressing sympathy for the loss of his bouncer while others question his survival amid past controversies.
