“Sowore Can Never Be President!” — VDM Blasts Seun Kuti

Controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has unleashed a scathing attack on musician Seun Kuti while maintaining his call for the release of activist Omoyele Sowore, exposing deep cracks in their once-aligned circles.

In a lengthy statement, VDM made it crystal clear that his support for Sowore’s freedom does not translate to political endorsement or personal alliance.

“Like I said, Sowore can never be president of this country. Seun Kuti, you can cry forever.”

He addressed criticisms regarding his previous comments about Sowore’s campaigns, explaining his consistent position:

“The only reason why I want him out is because WTF is the Tinubu government holding him for… #FreeSowore STILL. I don’t believe in him at all and that’s my opinion… I WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU AND OMOYELE SOWORE.”

VDM accused Seun Kuti of tribalism and inconsistency, referencing past incidents including the Felana and Bobrisky saga. He claimed Seun Kuti once reached out to him regarding Sowore’s alleged attacks but later switched sides.

“Seun Kuti, I’m ready for you guys,” he warned, while reminding critics that he and others defended Seun Kuti when he faced backlash for slapping a policeman.

The fiery response highlights ongoing tensions within Nigeria’s activist and political spaces, where alliances often fracture over ideology, personality clashes, and perceived betrayals. VDM emphasised that demanding Sowore’s release is about justice and opposition to unlawful detention, not blind loyalty to the activist’s political ambitions.
