VeryDarkMan Exposes EFCC Petition As APC Silencing Tactic

Controversial social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has confirmed receiving an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following a fresh petition that accuses him and activist-lawyer Deji Adeyanju of suspicious funding activities.

The petition, dated June 17, 2026, and filed by legal practitioner Blessing Agbomhere of Blessing Agbomhere & Partners, calls for a comprehensive forensic investigation into the financial sources, sponsorships, and funding channels supporting the advocacy work of both VDM and Deji Adeyanju. It raises concerns over alleged money laundering, tax evasion, terror financing, and possible foreign interference linked to their public protests and campaigns.

Reacting sharply on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan dismissed the petition as a politically motivated attempt to silence critics of the current administration.

“They want to stop us from speaking against this evil government that has failed to protect the lives of Nigerians. So, they used their people to write petitions.”

He specifically linked the petition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming it was orchestrated by an APC member from his local government area in Edo State to suppress growing public discontent and well-organized protests demanding better governance.

VDM insisted that the large turnout at recent protests reflects genuine national frustration rather than sponsored activities, and accused those behind the petition of trying to label their advocacy as terrorism financing to disrupt the government’s opponents.

The development comes amid heightened tensions over insecurity, particularly following recent school abductions, with VeryDarkMan and other activists intensifying calls for accountability from the government.

While the EFCC is yet to issue an official statement on this latest invitation, VDM’s confirmation and fiery response have already sparked massive reactions online, with supporters viewing it as intimidation and critics calling for transparency regarding his funding sources.
