Public figure and Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has fired back at Afrobeats superstar Davido after the singer unleashed vulgar insults on him amid their heated exchange over the Oyo State abducted schoolchildren.
The clash escalated after Davido wore a customised jacket highlighting the names of abducted pupils from Oyo State with the message “Bring Them Home” during his performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert in Los Angeles.

Reno Omokri criticised the move, arguing it gave unwanted publicity to bandits and terrorists rather than effectively pressuring the government.
Davido responded fiercely on his Instagram story, calling Omokri a “dog” and “fowl.”In a detailed open letter shared on his social media pages, Reno Omokri expressed disappointment in the singer’s choice of words.
“Dear Mr. David Adeleke AKA @Davido, Thank you for your feedback. I was rather surprised by your response to my post. Most shocking is your insult. You are an international celebrity whom Nigeria is proud of. Coming to insult me on my Instagram profile with such vulgar words should be beneath you.”
He explained his initial criticism:
“Yes, I am aware that you were upset at my appeal to you not to use an international platform, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to give publicity to bandits and terrorists… while your intention may be good and you think you are pressuring the government, the actual effect of what you did is to give publicity to the terrorists and help them spread fear, recruit new members, and raise funds.”
Omokri also suggested that praise from former Anambra Governor Peter Obi might have influenced Davido’s strong reaction.
