Afrobeats superstar Ayra Starr has left fans stunned after revealing the wild sacrifices she has made in the name of love, including deliberately missing a flight and switching off her phone just to spend more time with her man.
In a candid interview on the Is This Seat Taken podcast hosted by Chinasa Anukam, the “Commas” singer opened up about her romantic side and some of her most memorable experiences.
“The craziest thing I’ve done for love is, I intentionally missed my flight. I switched off my phone so I wouldn’t receive calls from friends cause I wanted to enjoy the moment with my man.”
The singer, known for her global stardom and strong independent image, also shared her high standards when it comes to relationships.
“I honestly don’t like a lot of people. For me to like a guy, he has to be on the same level as me and share similar life goals.”
On a lighter note, Ayra recalled her disappointing first kiss experience. With a laugh, she said:
“My first kiss didn’t go as planned. It was a complete waste of lips and saliva.”
The hitmaker also shared a memorable moment involving global icon Rihanna. When Rihanna invited her to Barbados, Ayra immediately accepted. However, after some time, she began craving Nigerian food.
“When we left Barbados I was tired of eating burgers and I found a Nigerian restaurant but they were closed. I told them it’s Ayra Starr, they should prepare yam and eggs for me and I waited two hours with Rihanna to get my yam and eggs.”
