Nigerian singer Magixx has ignited fierce debates online after declaring that men should always foot the bill on dates, even when the woman initiates and invites them out.
The Mavins Record artiste made the statements during a recent interview on Cool FM, where he shared his strong opinions on financial responsibilities in dating.
“If you have money as a guy, I mean if you’re comfortable and you take a girl out, you invited her out, you should pay because you invited her.”
He went further, insisting the rule should apply regardless of who made the invitation:
“Even if the girl invited you, you should still pay most of the time. I have girls invite me to clubs and I paid for the drinks.”
When pressed by the interviewer on whether he would maintain the same stance if he were not financially successful, the singer laughed and admitted honestly:
“I don’t know if I would.”
