“Forgive Me!” — Yinka Alaseyori Begs Over Kidnap Comments Backlash

Popular gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has tendered a public apology to Nigerians, especially mothers and families affected by the recent abduction in Oyo State, after her earlier comments defending the government sparked massive backlash.

In a remorseful video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the anointed worship leader appeared visibly emotional and broken as she admitted that her words had hurt many who felt their pain and voices were dismissed.

“I did a 1 hour 30 minutes video two days ago about the kidnapped children, touching and praying on government, parastatals and every agency but a two minutes clip from the video started trending and when I woke up yesterday, I found out that some well-meaning Nigerians were not happy about it, as I made them feel their voices are unheard.”

With a heavy heart, Alaseyori pleaded sincerely:

“Mothers, do not be offended. I am sorry. I beg in God’s name. Please, forgive me. I would never think like that. Pardon me. Forgive me.”

Her initial remarks, where she urged more prayers and suggested the government and security agencies were working hard, drew sharp criticism from fellow gospel artiste Victoria Orenze and several others who felt the timing was insensitive amid the ongoing trauma of parents whose children remain in captivity.

The abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has triggered nationwide outrage, with many demanding stronger action rather than prayers alone.

Alaseyori’s apology video has elicited mixed reactions. While some accepted it as a genuine Apology, others questioned the sincerity, given the intensity of public anger that followed her first statement.
