“I Don’t Mind Being Villain!” — Yul Edochie on Marriage to May

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has publicly addressed the collapse of his marriage to May Edochie, declaring he has no problem being portrayed as the villain in their story while extending well wishes to his ex-wife.

The actor made the comments during an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast. When asked if May did anything that contributed to the end of their marriage, Yul laughed before responding to a follow-up question.

“Does this laugh imply that you don’t mind being a villain in this story?” one of the hosts asked.

Yul replied saying,

“I don’t mind.”

He further stated that he wishes his ex-wife well.

“I wish my ex-wife, May well. I want her to be fine.”

He acknowledged that she is the mother of his children and noted that things happened during their marriage, but he chooses not to break down publicly over it.

Yul also revealed he was 22 years old when he married May, and they met while writing the GCE at a centre. He advised men not to be a “fool for a woman” and to set boundaries in relationships.

The couple’s marriage of over a decade crashed publicly after Yul’s relationship with colleague Judy Austin became known. May filed for divorce, demanded N100 million from Judy Austin, secured full custody of their children, and obtained a restraining order preventing Yul from accessing their former matrimonial home. Yul and Judy have since welcomed three sons together.
