Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has declared she has no immediate plans to venture into film production, insisting that acting remains the unique gift God gave her and she’s choosing to stay focused on her divine calling.
The 55-year-old star made the strong declaration during an interview on the Morayo Brown show. She emphasised the importance of recognising and running with one’s specific talent instead of forcing oneself into every available role in the industry.
“I am an actor. Every actor does not have to be a producer. I face my lane. I do what God asks me to do. And he asked me to have an impact.”
She explained that God used acting to give her a major platform and make her a household name.
“He gave me a platform, and after I got that platform, it became so stressful. That once in a while I would remember the days I was on my knees asking to be a household name. Now I am.”
Shaffy Bello noted that fame comes with great responsibility. She said she is currently focused on using her platform for positive impact rather than chasing production credits. While she did not completely rule out producing in the future, she made it clear that it is not what God is calling her to do at this time.
“If God gave you the grace to be a producer, run with it. For right now, I will not say never, I am saying that is not what he is calling me to do.”
The actress also stressed the power of staying authentic.
“I tell you one thing today that when you guys hear Shaffy Bello, you will never forget how you felt in this room. That is the gift he gave me. Some people can produce film for 20 years and if they sat on this chair, they will not have the same effect because it is not their gift.”
Shaffy Bello also urged younger actors, especially women, to embrace decency and understand that beauty does not require exposing the body. Her comments reflect a strong commitment to purpose-driven entertainment over trends and financial pressure.
