How Kissing Scenes Cost Me My Relationship — Sandra Okunzuwa

Nollywood actress Sandra Okunzuwa has opened up about the emotional toll of filming romantic and kissing scenes, revealing she once ended a relationship because her partner could not handle her on-screen intimacy.

Speaking during an interview on the BTS Reality Show, Sandra explained how intimate scenes, often misunderstood by the public, create real-life complications for actors.

“If you have twenty people watching you while kissing in the movie, it is impossible to enjoy it.”

She admitted that the presence of crew members and the technical nature of filming make it impossible to “get in the mood,” despite how passionate the scenes may appear on screen. Sandra said she would support removing such scenes if audiences could still enjoy movies without them, noting they can be emotionally draining.

Recounting a personal experience, she stated:

“These things affect our personal relationships. For instance, I had to leave a relationship because of this.”

The actress also acknowledged the difficulties of dating within or outside the industry.

“It is hard; it is not easy. I do not blame people who say they cannot date actresses because it is not everyone who can take certain things.”

Sandra’s candid revelation has sparked widespread discussions online about the personal sacrifices actors make and the challenges their partners face. Many viewers sympathised with her while others debated whether kissing scenes are truly necessary in filmmaking.
