Queen’s AMVCA Dress Draws Guinness World Records’ Reaction

Former Big Brother Naija star Queen Mercy Atang has ignited massive global conversation after Guinness World Records reacted to her bold bread-inspired outfit at the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). The reality star’s unconventional red carpet look, designed to promote her bakery business, continues to dominate headlines days after the event.

Queen turned heads at the AMVCA 2026, held on May 9 in Lagos, when she arrived wearing an elaborate dress constructed from hundreds of loaves of bread. She complemented the dramatic ensemble with matching props and assistants helping to manage the oversized creation.

Guinness World Records took notice and commented on her Instagram post:

“Well, we do have a record for the largest cake dress … hmmm.”

Queen quickly responded:

“Hello @guinnessworldrecords, I see you in the comment section.”

The current Guinness World Record for the largest wearable cake dress stands at 131.15kg (289lb 13oz), set by Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas in Switzerland in January 2023. Queen’s bread creation has now sparked fresh discussions about whether her look could inspire a new category.

The BBNaija alum explained her bold fashion choice was pure business strategy. “AMVCA 2026 ready. I come as an entrepreneur who runs a bread EMPIRE,” she declared, referencing her thriving bakery brand. The dress was designed by renowned stylist Toyin Lawani of Tiannah’s Empire.

Queen later proposed the creation of a special“AMVCA Nigerian Entrepreneurs Night” to celebrate business creativity and impact. Her eye-catching appearance has drawn both praise for its marketing genius and criticism for being over-the-top, but it undeniably succeeded in putting her brand in the spotlight.
