Davido Sacrifices Career to Fight for Uncle Adeleke’s Reelection

Davido Backs Gov. Adeleke, Joins Accord Party

Afrobeats superstar Davido has made a shocking announcement, temporarily suspending his music career to fully commit to leading the youth mobilization campaign for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid in Osun State.

The Grammy-nominated artiste made the declaration on Tuesday in Ede, Osun State, during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Committee. Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, said he is putting music on hold for the next two months to focus on ensuring his uncle’s victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Speaking passionately at the event, Davido expressed his strong belief in Governor Adeleke’s leadership and his readiness to sacrifice his busy music schedule for family and state development.

This major decision comes shortly after Davido’s successful sold-out show in Zambia. The singer has been formally appointed as Head of Youth Mobilisation for the Accord Party’s campaign council. He used the occasion to reminisce about childhood visits to Osun with his late father and praised Adeleke’s performance in office.

The move has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with many fans expressing mixed reactions. While some applaud his dedication to family and politics, others worry about the impact on his music career and upcoming projects.

Davido’s deep involvement in Osun politics is not new. He played a visible role in his uncle’s 2022 victory and continues to leverage his massive youth following to drive voter mobilization.
