Funmi Bank-Anthony Beats Uche Maduagwu In Public Rage

Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu found himself at the center of fresh drama after Yoruba actress and filmmaker Funmi Bank-Anthony allegedly beat him up during a heated public argument at a cinema in Lagos. A video of the chaotic confrontation surfaced online, showing the actress confronting and physically assaulting Uche while bystanders intervened.

Eyewitnesses claimed the fight erupted after Uche insulted Funmi. In the trending clip, Uche is seen removing his shirt amid the scuffle, which quickly drew skepticism from netizens who questioned whether the entire scene was staged. The incident allegedly stems from an ongoing feud where Uche accused Funmi of being responsible for Funke Akindele snubbing Toyin Abraham. Funmi responded by slamming him with a ₦100 million lawsuit and reportedly gave him a 12-hour ultimatum to delete the controversial post.

Reactions poured in swiftly across social media. Actor Mofe Duncan joked,

“This guy needs an award for the most beat up guy on social media.”

Fellow actor Somadina Adinma wrote,

“Must be acting because why did he take off his shirt, to fight a woman? Lunacy.”

Many commenters pointed to Uche’s history of similar public altercations. Two years ago, he was involved in a viral fight with singer May D. In 2022, actor Jim Iyke barged into Uche’s apartment in a video that both later admitted was a planned publicity stunt for a movie. Netizens now suspect the latest clash with Funmi follows the same pattern for movie promotion or clout.

Comments like “Same format since 2015. Even China phone has upgraded since then” and “Uche doesn’t get tired of this same gig? Every 2 years, they book him for this same gig” reflect widespread doubt about the authenticity of the fight. Others wondered why such incidents always seem to happen around cinemas and called for a change in tactics.

Funmi Bank-Anthony, known for producing movies such as Trade By Bata, has not issued a direct public statement on the video at the time of reporting. Uche Maduagwu also remained silent on the latest development. The clash highlights ongoing tensions in Nollywood, where personal feuds and accusations often spill into public spaces.

As the video continues to trend, opinions remain divided between those who see genuine anger and those convinced it is another orchestrated drama.
