Afrobeats superstar Davido has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world with his candid admission that he would rather his children join his father’s business empire than follow him into music and showbiz. The singer opened up during a recent interview on The Breakfast Club where he reflected on the personal toll his career choice took on his early happiness.

Davido did not sugarcoat his preference when asked directly about his kids’ future.

“Omo go and work with my dad.”He went on to explain how watching his father’s joy with the grandchildren shaped his thinking.

“Every Christmas my dad takes all the grandkids with him. And I could just see that upon all the things he has including multiple private jets and all that his happiness is him seeing his grandchildren. And my father is single. So I just saw his happiness and I’m like this is what life is all about.”

The 32-year-old father admitted that his own journey into entertainment was tough at first. He revealed that his billionaire businessman father Adedeji Adeleke initially opposed the move which “killed my joy until he saw that this boy is really adamant about doing this.” Despite that Davido insisted he would never block his own children from chasing entertainment if they truly wanted it.

“I wouldn’t want to do that to my kids as well.”

He noted that his daughter is already showing early signs of talent.

“My daughter is already singing and dancing.”
