The Ogun State Police Command has released the official autopsy report on the death of popular Fuji singer Afeez Adesina, better known as Destiny Boy. The report concludes that the 28-year-old artist died from aspiration pneumonitis caused by the ingestion of harmful levels of tramadol and methamphetamine. The findings were made public to bring an end to weeks of speculation and online rumours surrounding his sudden passing.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the toxicology results in a statement.
“The Consultant Anatomic Pathologist reported that toxicology results revealed harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, as well as methamphetamine, and opined that the cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances, with the date of death being 17/01/2026.”
Destiny Boy was reported dead on January 18, 2026, after he was rushed to a private hospital in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His family had earlier disclosed that he had been battling a private health challenge that involved seizures. They revealed they had sought both orthodox medical treatment and traditional healing methods in the weeks leading up to his death.
The singer first gained widespread attention in 2019 when his Fuji cover of Davido’s hit song “If” went viral on social media and later released original tracks such as “Lamba” and “Lowkey.”
Following his death, videos of his body being moved to the mortuary with cotton wool in his nostrils and ears circulated online, prompting many fans and observers to call for an autopsy to determine the exact cause. The police transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section for a thorough investigation.
Destiny Boy’s family has not issued an official comment on the autopsy findings as of the time of writing this report. The singer’s management and close associates have also remained silent on the report.
