Self pronounced social media police, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has issued a strong warning to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore after Sowore publicly criticised the court-ordered detention of businessman Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as B-Lord. The exchange has ignited fresh debate about justice, activism, and the limits of using the law.
The controversy stems from a legal case initiated by VeryDarkMan. On April 1, 2026, a Federal High Court in Abuja remanded Blord in Kuje prison for 26 days. He faces multiple charges including impersonation, forgery, false endorsement, breach of privacy, identity theft and criminal conspiracy. VeryDarkMan had filed a petition accusing Blord of using his image and name without consent to promote business ventures, billboards, fake event tickets and other products.
Omoyele Sowore reacted swiftly to the remand. In a statement, he argued against celebrating any incarceration under the ‘colour of law’.
“I have read about the court-ordered detention of an individual known as B-Lord, and I must say this clearly that no one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the color of law.”
He instructed his lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, to disengage from the process and vowed to work towards discontinuing the case and securing Blord’s release.
“We must all agree that sending B-Lord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponizes the law against citizens.”
VeryDarkMan responded directly to Sowore’s intervention in a strongly worded reply. He first addressed what he perceived as personal rivalry.
“First things first, Sowore, I know you never liked me. You feel threatened that I’m doing the things you’re known for and getting attention. You’re an activist, I am an online police.”
He drew a clear distinction between their roles.
“What I do on social media is to catch criminals and expose thieves. I’m the people’s voice. Don’t call me an activist anywhere, I’m different.”
VeryDarkMan criticised Sowore’s approach of addressing the matter publicly instead of reaching out privately.
“Secondly, you have all the means to call me directly to say ‘my boy, I don’t like what I’m seeing online. What can we do on this Blord matter?’ That’s how it’s meant to be done but you brought it online and that shows the hidden agenda.”
He ended with a direct challenge.
“I dare you Omoyele Sowore, do what Blord did and I promise to imprison you as well.”
Blord, founder of the Blord Group, remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
