Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been discharged from hospital and is now focusing on rehabilitation following successful surgery on his fractured right forearm. The 27-year-old is determined to return to action as soon as possible, with Galatasaray officials encouraged by his commitment and professionalism.
The procedure took place last Tuesday at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul and was led by the club’s doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce. It lasted approximately three hours after scans confirmed the break sustained during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against Liverpool at Anfield. Osimhen collided mid-air with defender Ibrahima Konaté while contesting a ball. Despite the pain, he showed remarkable toughness by playing on until half-time.

Osimhen had initially been expected to leave hospital the day after surgery. However, he personally requested an extended stay for closer monitoring and optimal conditions to speed up his recovery. A security guard was stationed outside his room during this period, and access was restricted even to close family members to ensure full focus on recuperation.
Galatasaray has welcomed the decision, viewing it as further evidence of Osimhen’s dedication. Early projections suggested a six-to-eight-week absence, but more recent updates point to a possible four-to-six-week recovery window. Osimhen himself had previously indicated during a livestream that the timeline would be a maximum of five to six weeks.
The club’s primary target for his comeback is the high-stakes Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26. If rehabilitation progresses smoothly, he could even start that fixture. He is expected to wear a protective splint on his injured arm upon returning to the pitch. Galatasaray, however, has stressed it will exercise caution and avoid any risk of re-injury.
