Big Brother Naija reality star Tacha has issued a lengthy denial amid allegations that she collected N5 million from a woman to publicise a donation appeal for her sick husband’s kidney transplant. The controversy escalated on March 27 when a video of the grieving widow accusing unnamed influencers of charging for help went viral after being posted by X (formerly Twitter) user Vampz. Tacha responded with two detailed posts on her page, one threatening legal action against the video’s sharer and the other, a lengthy personal defence.
In her initial reply, Tacha directly quoted Vampz, the video poster, whose full name she revealed as Elegbeleye Olajumoke Stella. She wrote:
“The video you posted comes across as a calculated attempt to TARNISH my image… WE’RE CURRENTLY preparing a petition this weekend… if you’re unable to provide these information, my Team and i will have no choice but to assume that this was initiated from your end with the intent to harm my image, and we will proceed accordingly.”
She added that neither she nor her team recognised the woman in the video and insisted she had never interacted with her.
Later, Tacha posted a more detailed defence, quoting a supportive message and addressing the core allegation head-on. She recounted her own struggles after her 2019 BBNaija disqualification:
“In 2019, when I didn’t have nothing and I was disqualified from Big Brother 9ja, I came out of the house and found out that my fans had created a GoFundMe.. Do you know what i DID?? Told them immediately to take it down.”
She also revealed turning down an offer from Jaruma for visa and business-class travel to Dubai during that difficult period.
Tacha firmly denied ever participating in fundraising activities.
“And Never HAVE I TACHA PARTICIPATED in any form of fundraising of any kind!! Even with my Natacha Akide Foundation, not for once have I actively asked any of my followers to donate nor even the GENERAL PUBLIC.”
She emphasised her financial contentment:
“Looking AT how God has blessed me, i would NEVER SCAM ANYONE!!! Not for 300Billion and clearly not for some chicken change of 5Million… I AM A Very CONTENTED ME!!! I cut my coat according to my size!! I don’t need twitter validation.”
The posts have generated massive engagement and replies have been divided: some users praised her for finally clearing the air and sharing personal context, while others continued pressing for a simple “yes or no” confirmation and criticised her earlier insults toward the original accuser. One commenter noted, “This simple explanation would have solve things yesterday,” while another asked, “Are u clearing the air, or just wanna make write ups? Just say yes I did, no I did not.”
The original videos showed the widow claiming she paid influencers to amplify her husband’s transplant appeal; he later passed away. No receipts or direct evidence linking Tacha to the payment have been publicly presented by either side. Tacha maintains the mention of “Tacha” in the video led to wrongful tagging and has urged caution against rushing to judgment without facts.
