“I’m Mentally Stressed” – Kunle Remi Laments Fuel Crisis

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has spoken out about the harsh realities of Nigeria’s ongoing fuel price hike, revealing the personal and professional strain it is placing on him and those around him. The actor shared his frustrations in a candid Instagram video where he admitted the situation has left him mentally exhausted.

In the video, Remi explained why he can no longer stay silent on political and economic issues.

“I don’t even know how to begin this conversation. Usually, I say things like, I don’t get involved in politics. I don’t talk about politics. In fact, the country, the industry, a couple of things, make you, they’ll tell you don’t discuss religion or politics or something, and so you fall into that category where you say I don’t like to talk politics. No, that’s the most stupid statement from anybody in Nigeria right now. We should be discussing. We should be talking about it. We should be trying to fix.”

Remi went on to share a recent experience that drove the point home.

“Today, I bought fuel, petrol. I bought petrol for one thousand three hundred and something thousand naira. We don’t have light.”

The actor expressed disbelief at Nigeria’s vulnerability despite its oil-producing status. Pointing to the country’s heavy reliance on a single functional refinery and the lack of full government support for others, he said

“I don’t understand why Nigeria is one of the first countries to be affected by the war in Iran.”

What struck a particularly emotional chord was Remi’s admission of the mental impact.

“I’m blown away because I’m mentally stressed, and I can’t even lie. So you don’t have light. Diesel is expensive. Fuel is expensive. A couple of my staff are letting me understand that to even come to work now is a problem because the transport is hiking, meaning that their salary is not even enough anymore in a very short period.”

Remi’s decision to speak openly reflects a growing willingness among public figures to address the everyday struggles of ordinary Nigerians as they get increasingly affected.

The video has seen fans appreciating his honesty about how the economic hardship is affecting not just households but also small businesses and creative professionals trying to keep operations running.
