Peller Slapped With ₦395 Million Lawsuit Over Unauthorized Video Usage

Tiktok Star Peller Breaks Silence on Jarvis Breakup

Popular Nigerian TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, is now facing legal action from a Lagos woman who claims he defamed, harassed, and filmed her without permission during a lounge confrontation earlier this year.

The complainant, Osarobo Odigie, through her legal representatives at FA Garrick and Co., sent a pre-action letter signed by attorney Bola Osineye, formally notifying the influencer of her intention to pursue damages totaling N395 million.

What Allegedly Went Down That Night

According to the letter, the incident took place at Folixxx Lounge along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos. Odigie’s lawyers say she had simply gone to the venue to buy food when things took an unexpected turn.

Her legal team alleges that Peller caused a loud disturbance directly behind her at the counter area, prompting her to move away from him. Rather than letting the moment pass, they claim he followed her and demanded to know why she had stepped aside.

The situation reportedly escalated from there. The letter alleges that Peller told her to “shut up” when she asked him to keep his voice down, and then began verbally abusing her using Yoruba insults including “Oloriburuku,” “Omo Ale,” and “Ashawo.” Her lawyers described the words as “untrue, ridiculing and defamatory,” saying they were used in a public setting with the clear intent to humiliate her.

The Video That Went Viral

Things got significantly worse, her legal team alleges, when Peller pulled out his phone and began recording her without seeking her permission. The video was then reportedly shared across his social media accounts where the streamer commands a massive following.

Odigie’s team says the fallout from the viral video resulted in serious reputational damage, significant emotional distress, and threats to her personal safety.

The N395 Million Demand

Odigie seeks N395 million in damages (N200m for defamation, N100m for emotional trauma, N75m for cyberbullying and N20 million in legal fees). She demands Peller remove the video from all platforms, issue a public apology on social media and in The PUNCH and The Guardian newspapers, and acknowledge his statements were false and damaging all within 7 days.

The letter warns that failure to meet these demands within the given timeframe will result in the filing of a formal lawsuit.

It is worth noting that this legal development follows a public apology Peller had already made on January 9, 2026, just days after the confrontation. Despite that apology, Odigie’s legal team appears to have determined that it did not go far enough to address the harm she says she suffered.

As of the time of writing this report, Peller has not publicly responded to the pre-action letter.
