Nollywood heartthrob Jim Iyke has delivered a poignant family anecdote on the Is This Seat Taken? podcast, revealing how his mother’s sharp instincts flagged two business deals that turned into his father’s biggest financial setbacks.
The story unfolds as Iyke describes his mom’s direct confrontation during the first misstep. He said two of his dad’s biggest mistakes were the ones his mom sat him down and warned him about.
“Everything in me spiritually, psychologically, and otherwise does not like this man you’re doing business with. You are making a lot of money with them now, but he’s going to cross you at a time where you’re at the crossroad.”
Despite the plea, his dad proceeded, leading to a betrayal that cost him a fortune.
The second instance followed a similar pattern, with his mom sensing trouble again, but ego won out.

“So every time we sit down to have a conversation, he will tell me, ‘You know why I’m not that, that, that…it’s because I didn’t listen to your mother.’ My mom never spoke about him, but he was reporting himself more like to his fellow man. I’m not his son now, it’s man-to-man, and say ‘whatever you do, don’t make this mistake.’”
