BBNaija star Vee Iye dunked on Naijashimadun’s comment comparing Nigeria’s airport parking costs to those in the United States. The exchange stemmed from Nasboi’s public complaint about being charged N54,000 for just three days of parking at Lagos’ MM2 airport.
Nasboi kicked off the conversation with a frustrated post highlighting the steep rise in fees. He recalled that overnight parking used to cost around 5,000 naira a year or two ago, questioning the sudden jump and the broader implications for everyday Nigerians.
“What kind of country is this? What kind of Government do everything and anything to make life miserable for its people.”
Naijashimadun pushed back by suggesting Nigerians complain too much. He pointed out that three days of parking in Nigeria equates to what some pay for just one hour abroad, adding that airport parking is optional and chosen for comfort.
“una just like to day complain abt everything .. watin una day pay for three days parking na him we day pay for one hr parking for abroad here . Parking at the airport is not compulsory for anyone u do that for ur comfortability so u shouldn’t blame anyone for ur decision.”
Vee Iye stepped in with a pointed rebuttal that quickly went viral. In her response, she zeroed in on what she saw as inconsistent logic:
“You compare Nigeria to America when the topic is parking prices. Yet you support a government that watches in silence as citizens die in the hands of bandits. Elede.”
Vee called out what she views as selective outrage: using America as a benchmark only when it downplays Nigeria’s everyday struggles, while conveniently overlooking more severe national issues like insecurity and government inaction on banditry. She highlighted a pattern she sees in some diaspora voices — defending or normalizing problems at home when it suits a narrative, but ignoring the human cost.
