Asherkine Addresses Backlash Over Allegedly Staged Pampering Video

Nigerian content creator and philanthropist Asherkine has stepped forward to address criticism surrounding a recent video where he appeared to lavish a young woman with an extravagant trip from Ogun State to Cape Town, South Africa. The video depicted Asherkine surprising Chiamaka Clare, a restaurant worker with luxury experiences including shopping sprees, a helicopter ride, and high-end accommodations. However, the video quickly sparked controversy, with online users questioning its authenticity, accusing it of being scripted, and scrutinizing Clare’s background.

Central to the backlash is the allegation that the entire encounter was staged for content. Social media detectives pointed out inconsistencies, such as Clare’s lack of genuine surprise during the lavish outings, and her seamless chemistry with Asherkine, suggesting prior familiarity. Critics also noted that Clare’s mother gave immediate approval for the international trip, and some recent posts on her socials portrayed a lavish lifestyle. These elements fueled theories that the video was a promotional stunt rather than a spontaneous gesture.

In response to the uproar, Asherkine released a statement on March 10, 2026, breaking his silence to clear the air.

He said,

“I may understand that a bunch of people cannot fathom a young adult living and working in Ogun state, trying to make a way for themselves because she ‘looks too good’ for such a job.”

He added that,

“I won’t let some silly takes ruin this one for her or let y’all undermine videos I create. I understand that most of my videos span through the progression of a day but this video spanned over a week after our first meet. I’m unsure how it looks like a 48hr livestream.”
