Nigerian Actor Okemesi Confirmed Dead At Hospital

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of popular comic actor Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known as Okemesi.

The beloved Nollywood figure died at a hospital on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at about 11:50 a.m., after reportedly spending several hours in a coma linked to complications from medication administered during treatment.

News of his passing was made public in an emotional video shared on Instagram by fellow actor Tony Montana Jeff, who confirmed that the late comedian’s body had been deposited in the mortuary.

“With a heavy heart, I’m announcing to the world that Okemesi is dead. The doctor pronounced him dead at exactly 11:50 a.m. this morning, February 24, 2026. Okemesi is gone,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the grieving family, he added:

“So, on behalf of the entire Bamidele family, I’m announcing to the world that Oluwatope Bamidele Saint Okemesi is dead. We have taken the body to the morgue. I will communicate the rest of the arrangements to you guys. We appreciate every one of you who turned up for him. May God forgive Okemesi and rest his soul.”

The report was also confirmed by Daily Post Nigeria, which noted that the actor had only been admitted for treatment hours before his condition worsened.

Known for his comic delivery and memorable screen presence, Okemesi built a loyal fanbase with roles that brought laughter to audiences across Nigeria and beyond.

Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues and fans, many describing his passing as a painful loss to Nollywood and the comedy community.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
