Adesua Etomi Reacts As Fans Question Her New Age

Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi has directly addressed growing public disbelief about her real age as she prepares to celebrate her 40th birthday.

According to reports, the award-winning actress shared a throwback photo of herself on a bike while marking the final days of her 30s. Expressing excitement, she revealed she had been counting down to turning 40 for years.

However, the announcement sparked disbelief among some fans, prompting the actress to respond publicly.

Reacting to the comments, she questioned why people continue to doubt what she has consistently shared in interviews.

“The number of people who are saying 40 ke? I have always said my age, even in interviews. Is it that you people didn’t believe me?”

Her response has reignited conversations about how frequently Nigerian celebrities face scrutiny over their ages.

Recently, Adunni Ade also clarified her age after a cinematographer offered to cover her supposed 50th birthday celebration in 2026. She pushed back, saying she is not even 48 yet and criticized what she described as Nigerians’ obsession with age.

Similarly, Laide Bakare stirred reactions when she publicly declared she was 36, sharing photos with her mother and daughter. The revelation triggered heated online debates, with critics accusing her of reducing her age.

Socialite Cubana Chief Priest also surprised fans after revealing he was 37, a disclosure many found hard to believe.

Actress Uche Ogbodo once confronted a troll who doubted she was 38. In response, she shared her passport biodata and insisted she had nothing to hide.

In another case, Nkechi Blessing fired back at critics during her 35th birthday celebration, telling those questioning her age to “keep choking on it.”

Caroline Danjuma also faced backlash after claiming she was turning 35, prompting her to defend herself and dismiss critics as unintelligent.

Reality TV star Mercy Eke similarly faced scrutiny when her age surfaced online, but she responded with sarcasm and later confirmed it during an exchange with a troll. Her sister, Sweery Eke, even shared a copy of her birth certificate in her defence.

Meanwhile, actress Monalisa Chinda has openly taken a different stance, saying she proudly embraces her age and the reality of growing older.

As Adesua Etomi counts down to 40, her response has once again highlighted a recurring issue in the entertainment industry, the intense public fixation on celebrity age.
