Fresh controversy is surrounding the reported breakdown of the marriage between Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire and actor Frederick Leonard, following explosive claims from a social commentator who says they have known the actress for over two decades.
In a strongly worded statement circulating online, the commentator alleged that attempts at mediation failed and urged Leonard to stop actions that could harm the actress’s reputation and career.
“Two of you have tried mediation, you chose the therapist, that was the last resort and it did not work. Sir, enough! Don’t tarnish Peggy’s image. Nor take food comot from Peggy’s mouth. Respect the fact that Peggy loved you and protected what you people had for more than 7 years.”
The statement further claimed the separation had been quietly underway for some time, saying the actress moved out months earlier without public drama.
“Peggy moved out from your house, we asked her to pack since mid last year, she did not bring it to social media. Now, why are you trying to stop other nollywood actors and actresses from working with Peggy?”
The commentator also alleged professional tension, suggesting collaborators were being pressured over work decisions.
“Anyone that works with you, you are saying if they work with Peggy, they’ll never work with you again. Why the bitterness?”
The message went on to describe emotional strain during the relationship and urged that the actress be allowed to move forward peacefully.
“You verbally made Peggy feel like she is worthless… Let her be.”
The commentator also claimed recent behavioral changes were linked to the emotional impact of the relationship.
“I saw Peggy having an altercation with an actor, I became worried because that’s not Peggy. That’s an extension of the defense mechanism she had to develop around you.”
As of press time, neither party has publicly responded to the circulating claims.
However, the situation is already drawing strong reactions online, with fans and industry observers closely watching for official statements or clarification from either side.
