Fresh drama has reportedly unfolded in the ongoing custody battle between Nigerian music superstar Davido and his ex-partner Sophia Momodu, with claims the singer lost his cool during court proceedings in Lagos.
According to lawyer Maruf Muhammed, who shared updates on X (formerly Twitter), the incident allegedly happened during a hearing at the High Court in Yaba, where Davido was said to have been visibly shaken during cross-examination.
“Davido in High Court, Yaba now! Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made OO1 lose his patience during cross-examination o! Be you never so high, the law is above you!!”
The post quickly went viral, drawing reactions from social media users who noted that cross-examination can be emotionally intense, even for public figures.
One X user, Scope Nation, explained the pressure of court questioning:
“Anyone who is not used to court appearances can be stressed during cross-examination. No matter how big or popular the person is! Cross-examination is meant to shake tables, even if the tables are strong initially.”
Maruf Muhammed later added that the questioning allegedly struck a nerve with the singer.
“Yes, oo! The lawyer hit him and made him look worthless. He got angry. Na him Papa de pat him.”
The development comes amid the long-running custody dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu over their daughter, Imade.
Last year, the singer filed for joint custody, alleging Sophia was denying him access to their child and demanding money, claims she denied. Sophia, in turn, opposed the request, raising concerns about his parenting ability and referencing past family tragedies.
Despite the legal tensions, the pair have shared brief moments of reconciliation. Davido once described reuniting with his daughter as “the best day of my life,” and both parents attended Imade’s 10th birthday celebration after years of strained relations.
Their conflict reportedly intensified after Davido rekindled his relationship with his now wife, Chioma, which led to public exchanges and accusations between the former partners.
