Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo is stirring conversation online after sharing her strong opinion on what causes most marriages to fail.
The actress, known for her outspoken views, claimed that men carry the larger share of responsibility when relationships break down.
Taking to her Instagram page, she wrote plainly:
“Men contribute 95 per cent in failed marriages.”
She went further to explain why she believes this is the case, pointing to patterns of behaviour she says are common in troubled unions.
“Many marriages fail because a significant number of men neglect, cheat, devalue, emotionally harm, emotionally stress, or betray their wives.”
According to the actress, the problem goes deeper than individual relationships. She believes the lack of accountability in both relationships and society allows these patterns to continue.
Her comments have quickly sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with her position, while others argue that marriage breakdowns are more complex and involve both partners.
Uche Ogbodo’s statement is drawing particular attention because of her own personal experience with marriage. The actress is currently in her second marriage. Her first union to Norway-based football agent Ato Ubby in 2013 ended less than a year after it began. She later married her second baby daddy, Bobby Maris, in October 2023.
As conversations continue across social media, her remarks have once again placed celebrity voices at the centre of public debate on marriage, accountability, and relationship dynamics.
