Stanley Ontop Counters Frederick Leonard Defamation Lawsuit

Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop has hit back strongly after actor Frederick Leonard filed a lawsuit against him for alleged defamation and libel.

On Instagram, Frederick Leonard shared screenshots of the legal documents, accusing Stanley of “defaming my reputation unprovoked for over two years.” According to the suit, Stanley allegedly made repeated claims that damaged Leonard’s image and caused him serious financial losses.

The suit warned Stanley directly, stating:

“IF YOU CLAIM OR ALLEGE, YOU MUST PROVE WITH EVIDENCE, I’M COMING FOR YOU.”

Reacting shortly after the post went viral, Stanley Ontop showed no sign of backing down. In a fiery response shared online, he made it clear that he is ready for a courtroom battle.

The clash is not new. Stanley has repeatedly accused Frederick Leonard in the past of mistreating crew members on movie sets, claiming the actor talks down on colleagues and sees himself as “the God of Nollywood.” He also previously alleged bullying and unprofessional conduct, accusations Leonard has strongly denied.

Meanwhile, Frederick Leonard has warned bloggers and commentators to stop spreading false narratives about his personal and professional life, especially concerning his marriage to actress Peggy Ovire, insisting that social media is not owed explanations.

With both parties standing their ground, all eyes are now on how the legal battle between the Nollywood figures will unfold.
