Samklef Pranks Seun Kuti Amid Wizkid Feud

Nigerian music producer Samklef has stirred fresh controversy online after sharing what he described as a prank chat between himself and Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti, son of late legend Fela Kuti.

The move comes amid Seun Kuti’s ongoing online tension with Wizkid and members of Wizkid FC, a situation that has already fueled heated conversations across social media.

In a post on Instagram, Samklef claimed he tricked Seun Kuti by pretending to book him for a show. According to the producer, Seun initially responded before the conversation turned confrontational.

The shared screenshot shows a chat where the sender, allegedly Samklef, first approached politely:

“Hello” “Is this Seun Kuti?” “I want to book u for a show someone gave me your contact”

Seun reportedly replied, “Yea. Who is this”, before the tone of the exchange shifted.

In the messages Samklef posted, the sender began taunting Seun Kuti while referencing the ongoing Afrobeats legacy debate.

One message reads:

“I change my mind — you no get hit song. Ori ẹmo, na Samklef be this for your life. Anytime you hear Samklef, avoid am! No be your papa create Afrobeats — na me, SAMKLEF, create it. Na London people just give am the name.”

The sender also appeared to mock Seun’s public image and musical relevance:

“You sef know say you be unknown Fela pikin, that’s why you no get talent. Daddy’s boy!” Another line hinted at online retaliation: “I dey come for you online, soon you go cry.”

Sharing the alleged chat, Samklef added a fiery caption that further escalated the situation. He wrote:

“Make una slide! Make I show una say I be mad man! My leaked chat with Seun Kuti! I pranked Fela pikin with show, him think say he don see booking! E enter am. E pain am, him say Ice go soon deport me. Even broke shame me say I be construction worker.”

The caption suggests the producer sees the exchange as both a joke and a jab, while also accusing Seun of insulting him during the conversation.

The prank comes at a sensitive time, as debates continue over Afrobeats history and legacy, especially involving Fela Kuti’s Afrobeat movement versus the modern Afrobeats sound. Samklef’s bold claim that he “created Afrobeats” has already raised eyebrows among music fans.

As of the time of report, Seun Kuti has not publicly responded to the alleged prank or the leaked messages.
