The growing feud between Afrobeats star Wizkid and the Kuti family has taken a new turn after Motunrayo Kuti, daughter of the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, publicly reacted to the singer’s controversial comments.
Motunrayo entered the heated conversation following Wizkid’s viral claim that he is “bigger” than Fela, a statement that came during his online clash with Seun Kuti. The remark immediately sparked outrage across social media and reignited debates about legacy, influence, and respect.
In a fiery video now circulating online, Motunrayo accused Wizkid of crossing the line by dragging her father’s name into the dispute.
“Wizkid is bigger than Fela abi? Wizkid, you are also bigger than your father,” she said in the video.
She continued with a series of personal remarks directed at the singer’s family, adding that if Wizkid believes he is bigger than Fela, then the same logic applies to his own parents.
“As you are bigger than our own father, you are also bigger than your father,” she said, insisting that Fela’s legacy stands far above personal comparisons.
Motunrayo concluded by defending her father’s historical and cultural importance, saying Fela’s impact cannot be reduced to online arguments or fan wars.
Her comments have since drawn mixed reactions online. While some fans of the Kuti family applauded her for defending Fela’s legacy, others criticised the response as overly personal and excessive.
The controversy began after Seun Kuti criticised Wizkid’s fanbase for comparing the singer to his father. Wizkid later fired back in a social media post, writing, “I big pass your papa,” a line that quickly went viral and escalated the feud.
The disagreement is also tied to Seun Kuti’s nickname, “Big Bird,” which many believe clashed with Wizkid’s long-standing moniker of the same name.
As fans continue to take sides, the Wizkid–Kuti family feud remains one of the most talked-about controversies in Nigerian entertainment right now, with no signs of slowing down.
