Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has finally regained his freedom after spending one week behind bars.
The street-hop artiste was released on Monday, January 19, 2026, after successfully meeting his bail conditions following days of legal drama that kept fans and the entertainment industry on edge.
Shortly after his release, Portable appeared in a now-viral video circulating on social media, where he strongly denied the allegations against him.
“They lied against me. I’m innocent,” the singer said.
Entertainment Reporter gathered that Portable was remanded in prison last week after he was accused of assault and theft by his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, alongside her siblings.
The situation reportedly began on New Year’s Eve, when a disturbing video surfaced online showing Ashabi and the singer engaged in a heated confrontation. In the clip, Ashabi was seen holding onto Portable’s clothes while shouting in distress, “Pami baby” (Baby you have to kill me).
The video quickly sparked outrage online and intensified public scrutiny around the singer.
Following the incident, Ashabi and her siblings reportedly moved to have Portable arrested, accusing him of assault and allegedly stealing their car.
The singer was arraigned last Monday before the Federal High Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, where he faced a nine-count criminal charge bordering on theft, causing harm, assault, and resisting arrest.
After the hearing, the presiding judge ordered that Portable be remanded in prison and adjourned the case, fixing January 19, 2026, for a fresh bail hearing.
With his release now confirmed, Portable is back in the public eye, though the legal battle surrounding the case is far from over.
As reactions continue to trail his release, many fans await his next move, both in court and in music, while the controversy surrounding the singer once again keeps him firmly in the headlines.
