A neighbour of late Nollywood actress Allwell Ademola has shared a heartbreaking account of her final moments before she died, shedding light on the tense hours that preceded her passing.
Speaking during an emotional interview with actress Biola Adebayo, the neighbour revealed that it took more than 30 minutes for Allwell to open her door after she called for help, as she struggled to dress herself while in distress.
According to him, the neighbours repeatedly pleaded with her to open the door, unaware that the situation would turn tragic.
“It took almost over 30 minutes. It took a long time,” he said. “I had to keep saying, ‘Actress, please open the door,’ because I think it was difficult for her to put on her gown.”
He explained that Allwell was still trying to maintain her dignity, not realizing how serious the situation had become.
“She never knew it was going to end that way. If not, she wouldn’t have minded us breaking the door. She was covering herself.”
When she eventually opened the door, the neighbours quickly sprang into action.
“We tried. We lifted her up. About five or six people lifted her up into the car,” he recalled.
The neighbour said he personally drove her to the hospital, breaking his usual habits out of urgency.
“I had to drive the car myself. Even faster than how I could have. I don’t like driving out of the gates, but that day, I didn’t know where the strength came from.”
He added that people in the area immediately sensed something was wrong.
“Even people at Pipeline, where she lives, they knew something was wrong. It was that bad.”
Speaking with visible emotion, he admitted that the loss still feels unreal.
“It’s still like a dream to me, especially when I see her things around. I’ll be like, is it really true?”
The neighbour also recalled that the late actress once joked about having “good neighbours,” a statement that became painfully true on the day they rallied together to save her life.
Allwell Ademola was a respected veteran actress, producer, and filmmaker, who began her career as a child actress and featured in both English and Yoruba films, including False Flag. She also ran her own production company.
The actress died on December 27, 2025, in Lagos following a sudden health crisis at her home. She was rushed to Ancilla Hospital, Agege, where she was pronounced dead. Her burial took place in early January 2026, attended by family, friends, and Nollywood colleagues.
Close friend Rotimi Salami later penned an open letter thanking the industry for its support, describing Allwell Ademola’s burial as dignified, peaceful, and filled with love, a final farewell to a woman many described as kind, private, and deeply respected.
