Legendary Fuji musician Saheed Osupa has reacted strongly to a controversial prophecy predicting his death, describing it as false and unacceptable.
Reports had earlier circulated online that a Nigerian Islamic cleric, popularly known as Alfa Olopa Meta, claimed the veteran singer would die on January 10, 2026.
According to the cleric, he had allegedly “begged God” on Osupa’s behalf and advised the Fuji icon to buy a big ram for prayers to avert the prophecy.
Breaking his silence during a live performance on Sunday, January 11, 2026, Saheed Osupa dismissed the claim and addressed those spreading the message directly.
“Fake Alpha and prophet, please don’t wish me dead,” the singer said on stage.
“Everyone who wishes me dead will die in my place.”
Osupa went further to warn anyone harbouring ill intentions toward him, whether publicly or privately.
“Close enemies, unknown enemies, enemies of my career and the ones in my neighborhood, better don’t wish me dead, or you would die before me,” he added.
The singer’s response has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans praising him for standing firm and condemning prophecies that instill fear.
Several supporters described the prophecy as irresponsible, urging religious leaders to refrain from making public predictions that could cause panic or emotional distress.
