Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has once again found himself at the centre of online drama after a video surfaced showing him handcuffed and crying inside police custody.
The video, which has been making waves across social media platforms, reportedly followed his recent arrest by his babymama, Ashabi Simple, at a local restaurant.
In the now-viral clip, Portable was seen in handcuffs, visibly emotional, as officers handed him his bag to confirm that none of his belongings were missing.
The singer emptied the bag on the floor, revealing naira notes, gold chains, and other personal items, before confirming that everything was intact.
As emotions took over, Portable repeatedly begged for mercy, stressing that he was only a singer trying to survive.
“My father is dead. I have no one only God. Have mercy on me!” he cried.
However, a woman’s voice in the background challenged his claim, questioning whether it was the same father he had been seen with just days earlier.
According to reports, Portable was arrested yesterday after an incident involving his babymama. The arrest comes only days after the singer publicly claimed that his father treated him like Mohbad’s father, alleging that his father always collected money from him but stayed away whenever he needed support.
That statement had already sparked backlash online, with many accusing the singer of being disrespectful.
As expected, Nigerians took to social media to react, with opinions sharply divided.
Crypto Psalm wrote, “You see Portable and DJ Chicken, I no even know how them become celebrity cause they’re not even enjoying most celebrity benefits. How woman go keep you for police custody.”
TradewithOla commented, “See as he lose steeze.” Adejare Stephen added, “Omo waiting Portable talk no good at all.”
Calling out the singer directly, Mayyor wrote, “Portable really crossed the line. Saying ‘I no get papa again’ when his father is alive is disrespectful and unacceptable, no matter the pressure.”
Others felt the drama was nothing new. Kingbrown said, “This guy no fit go one year without police wahala.”
While Themolabello questioned the motive behind the incident, “If this whole thing na clout then Portable don mad true true lol.”
Despite the backlash, some fans believe the singer may still turn the situation into music content, as he has done in the past.
As of press time, neither Portable nor Ashabi Simple has released an official statement addressing the arrest.
