Popular Nigerian skitmaker and streamer Carter Efe has sparked fresh online drama after sharing a private conversation between him and controversial singer Portable, also known as Zazzu, over a proposed studio appearance.
Carter Efe revealed that he had invited the singer to his studio for a streaming session, only to be hit with a ₦10 million appearance demand from Portable. The conversation, which included a heated voice note from the singer, has since gone viral on social media.
In the leaked audio, Portable made it clear that he was unwilling to negotiate his price, dismissing any figure below ₦10 million.
“9.9 million cannot call Zazzu. Na wetin I wan kolet from u be dat,” Portable said. “If you pay, I will give you glory. I will do all you want. Call your fans to pay for you. If the 10 million land in my aza, I will show you love.”
The singer went on to frame his decision as a matter of principle and destiny, insisting that he would not offer exposure or collaboration for free.
“God told me not to give you the glory for free,” he added.
Portable also took a personal swipe at Carter Efe, questioning his status and accusing him of profiting from other artistes.
“Carter Efe, you’re a small boy, you just big for nothing. You’ve packed all the artists and collect their money, now you can’t pay me.”
Doubling down on his stance, Portable declared his star power and superiority in the situation.
“I’m a star, star doesn’t beg to shine. Others come to you, but you, you’re coming to me, so you’ve to pay. I’m a star bro.”
The revelation immediately triggered mixed reactions from fans across X, formerly Twitter. Entertainment blog @Naijagistblog noted that while Portable’s approach may be extreme, he appears confident in his self-worth, stating, “One thing I like about Portable be say! He get self worth, though he’s not who he thinks he is.”
Others were more critical. @C4Chullo accused Portable of overrating his current relevance, “Portable Juju de always make am feel like, he is the big deal. Carter de try help u revive ur career. No hit song since 2023 and u still wan charge 10m to come wu iwa werey for studio.”
The insult directed at Carter Efe also caught attention, with @KingsleyIyamu6 reacting sharply to the line, “Watin come reach ‘you’re a small boy, you just big for nothing’.” Meanwhile, @d-osinaike commented, “Portable thinks he’s the prince of the Nigeria music industry.”
As the conversation continues to trend online, the incident has reignited debates around artiste fees, relevance, and ego in Nigeria’s fast-evolving entertainment scene.
