Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has finally addressed months of swirling controversy as she underwent a drug test, a move many believe was prompted by intense public pressure and lingering allegations involving her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko.
In an emotional and lengthy post shared on her Instagram page alongside a video from the test centre, the actress described the last few months of her life as deeply overwhelming and transformational.
According to Regina, the season nearly broke her, but she survived because of the love and support she received from family, friends, and members of the public.
“The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy. One of those seasons that tries to sit on your chest and ask, ‘So, what are we doing next?’” she wrote.
She revealed that everything she once knew felt like it was slipping away, but she refused to sink.
“Everything I had ever known was drowning right in front of me. But here’s the plot twist — I didn’t drown with it.”
Explaining why she decided to finally take the drug test, Regina said the decision was not forced, but intentional, rooted in accountability and self-respect.
“I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me, and the people who look up to me. Integrity matters. Accountability matters. Peace of mind especially matters.”
The actress also directly addressed one of the most damaging claims made against her online.
“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was, ‘Regina is a drug addict.’ And honestly? I paused, then I checked again. I looked at myself in the mirror repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict.”
She added that the experience opened her eyes to how projection and misinformation thrive online.
“People often project their fears, insecurities, and negative thoughts onto others. But projection is not reality, and noise is not truth.”
Regina made it clear that this chapter of her life marks a reset, one centred on growth, healing, and intention.
“This chapter of my life is now about self-discovery, self-growth, and becoming even more intentional about who I am and where I’m going.”
She ended her message on a defiant yet hopeful note:
“The same mouth that was used to spoil my name is the same mouth that will build it back up… I’m still standing, still growing, and just getting started. And yes. We move.”
The development comes months after Ned Nwoko publicly alleged that Regina was battling drug and alcohol abuse, claims he cited as the root of their marital crisis. In interviews and statements at the time, the politician said he wanted her to seek rehabilitation for the sake of their children, accusing some of her friends and siblings of enabling her behaviour.
Nwoko also alleged that individuals close to Regina, including colleagues like Sonia and Uche Montana, repeatedly interfered with attempts to rehabilitate her.
With the drug test now completed and her voice firmly reclaimed, Regina Daniels appears determined to take control of her narrative, and may be preparing for legal action, as she warned that those who damaged her name could soon face consequences beyond social media.
