Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has etched his name into Nigerian film history as Agesinkole 2 recorded an unprecedented ₦417 million in just 12 days, all from community cinema screenings.
The milestone marks the first time a Nollywood film has generated such numbers outside the conventional cinema system, positioning Agesinkole 2 as a bold experiment that reshaped how Nigerian films can be distributed and consumed.
Announcing the feat on Instagram on Tuesday, an emotional Femi Adebayo described the journey as a movement that defied doubt and rewrote industry rules.
“This moment means everything. What started as a bold idea became a movement. What many doubted became a monumental chapter in Nollywood history. ₦417 MILLION in just 12 days,” he wrote.
The filmmaker stressed that the success of Agesinkole 2 goes beyond box office figures, highlighting its cultural and structural impact on Nollywood.
“First ever community cinema title. First Nollywood film to live in community cinemas. First filmmaker to step into this uncharted path,” he said. “This is proof that meaningful collaboration between purpose-driven organizations can change the trajectory of the future of our industry. Cinema is communal!”
Femi further described the achievement as a shared victory powered by faith, courage, and collective belief.
“This is our shared vision. More than numbers, this is faith rewarded. Courage justified. Vision affirmed,” he added. “To everyone who showed up, believed, bought a ticket, and made history with us – this victory is yours.”
According to him, Agesinkole 2 was designed to spark conversations and reconnect cinema with grassroots audiences.
“AGESINKOLE 2 is for US. It spoke. It moved minds. It changed the conversation. This isn’t just a movie… It’s a movement.”

The film was screened across community cinemas in Western Nigeria between December 24, 2025 and January 4, 2026, with ticket prices set at ₦4,000 in Lagos and ₦3,000 in other states, making it more accessible to everyday moviegoers.
Agesinkole 2 is a sequel to the 2022 Yoruba epic King of Thieves (Agẹṣinkólé), which previously grossed over ₦320 million, cementing its place as one of the most successful indigenous-language films in Nollywood history.

The epic features a star-studded cast including Yemi Solade, Bimbo Akintola, Gabriel Afolayan, Segun Arinze, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, Biola Adebayo, and Jaye Kuti.
The film was produced by Femi Adebayo, Kelechi Okoro, and Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni, with music composed by Tolu Obanro and editing handled by Temitope Folarin.
With this record-breaking run, Agesinkole 2 has not only expanded Nollywood’s box office boundaries but also opened a new chapter for community-driven cinema in Nigeria.
