Wizkid Swaps Amala for Salmon Lunch, Fans React

Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has once again set social media buzzing, not with music this time, but with food and a surprising switch from local comfort to luxury cuisine.

The moment was shared by Wizkid’s longtime associate and Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, who posted photos of the singer enjoying a relaxed lunch in Lagos. The table told a story of soft living: plump grilled salmon, crispy fries, rice, onion skewers, suya, assorted dips, all arranged neatly in a lush, plant-filled setting.

But the real spark came from Awoniyi’s playful caption, which immediately caught fans’ attention.

“My broski wanted to eat amala, I told him we are eating salmon today!”

The lighthearted post quickly went viral, with fans laughing at Wizkid’s supposed amala cravings being overridden by a salmon-only menu. Beyond the food, however, eagle-eyed followers spotted something else; Wizkid’s phone.

Many fans couldn’t help but joke about the visibly worn edges of his iPhone, urging the Starboy to “upgrade,” despite his billionaire status. Others simply admired the calm, effortless “chop life” energy the photos gave off.

Reactions poured in from all corners of Twitter.

Popular influencer Abazz joked, “Wizkid dey use iPhone 11 he no get money to buy iPhone 17.” Another fan, Big Cruise, added, “Baba iPhone don see better days.”

Dolapo shifted attention to Wizkid’s outfit, asking, “Is he wearing his top inside-out or that’s how it is?” Meanwhile, Lord Tinny focused on the menu and teased Awoniyi directly, “You go serve the King you no go add Suya keh. You dey play be that.”

For Uncle Marcus, the issue was deeper than jokes, it was culinary loyalty. He wrote, “I love the wiz food content everywhere lately. I just love seeing people eat. But please if he wants Amala give him Amala, it’s a crime to go from Amala to salmon.”

From his food choices to his phone and fashion, Starboy continues to trend effortlessly.
