Kamo State, Ibrahim Chatta Lead Nollywood Box Office

Nollywood actors Ibrahim Chatta, Kamo State and Uzor Arukwe have emerged as some of the most commercially powerful faces in the industry, following the release of a new box office ranking highlighting the top-performing actors of 2025.

The ranking, compiled by Partyjollof TV and shared on Instagram, was based strictly on cinema box office figures from films released in 2025, with calculations done on a movie-by-movie basis. According to the platform, the focus was on box office presence rather than individual pay, measuring how strongly each actor featured in commercially successful projects.

At the centre of the list is Kamo State, whose year was defined by relentless visibility on the big screen. Appearing in multiple high-grossing titles including Behind The Scenes, Gingerrr, Ori Rebirth, Labake Olododo and War Lord, the actor recorded the highest combined cinema gross of the year, cementing his place as Nollywood’s most bankable male presence in 2025.

Close behind was Mr Macaroni, whose steady run across major releases such as Behind The Scenes, Gingerrr, Labake Olododo and Red Circle translated into another strong box office year. His transition from digital comedy to mainstream cinema continued to pay off, with audiences consistently showing up for films bearing his name.

Veteran actor Ibrahim Chatta also posted one of the most impressive box office performances of the year. With appearances in titles like Iyalode, Ori Rebirth, Makemation and Behind The Scenes, Chatta’s commercial showing reinforced the enduring pull of seasoned performers, particularly within culturally rooted and epic narratives.

The list also reflected the box office strength of Iyabo Ojo and Funke Akindele, two actresses whose films remained audience favourites throughout the year. While their combined cinema numbers were closely matched, both stars continued to demonstrate a deep understanding of storytelling that resonates with Nigerian cinema-goers.

Actors Scarlet Gomez and Uzor Arukwe also recorded strong cinema outings, with Arukwe’s romantic and drama-heavy roles translating into solid box office returns. His growing presence in mainstream Nollywood has steadily positioned him as one of the most reliable male leads of the moment.

Veteran performer Afeez Oyetoro (Saka), alongside younger stars Tobi Bakre and Ejiro Rhozary Onojaife, completed the list, reflecting a blend of experience and new-age appeal that defined Nollywood’s cinema landscape in 2025.

Partyjollof TV clarified that each credited actor was assigned the full box office gross of every film they appeared in, stressing that the ranking was designed to highlight visibility and commercial impact, not earnings distribution.
