Nollywood actress Ashabi has finally spoken out following the explosive New Year drama involving her and controversial singer Portable, offering her own detailed account and directly responding to claims made against her.
Entertainment Reporter recalls that the New Year began with chaos for the pair after a viral video showed Ashabi and Portable in a heated argument, with emotions running high and shocking statements exchanged. Shortly after, Portable went online to declare that Bewaji is his only wife, while accusing Ashabi of attacking his family.
In an Instagram video, Portable alleged that Ashabi came to his house with her family, assaulted his pregnant wife, and endangered his children. He also claimed her mother accused him of using charms and questioned why he did not buy her a car.
Ashabi has now broken her silence, and her version tells a very different story.
According to the Yoruba actress, the incident started when she and her siblings visited Portable to celebrate the New Year. She alleged that things turned violent almost immediately.
She said:
“When my siblings and I went to celebrate the New Year with you, you pushed me and slapped me. You then brought out an axe and forcefully took all our phones.”
Ashabi further claimed that her younger brother and sister were also assaulted during the confrontation.
“You gave my younger brother a blow in his eye; till now, he can’t open the eye. You sl@pped my younger sister, I had to run to your office and hide.”
She added that the situation escalated after her siblings told her Portable brought out ritual items.
“My siblings said you brought out a calabash and poured water on the floor. When I got out from your office in order to go home, you pulled me back and said you would cut me with the axe.”
Addressing public criticism over why she remains connected to the singer, Ashabi made a deeply emotional revelation, claiming Portable repeatedly begged her not to leave him.
“People are always wondering what I’m still doing with you since you don’t love me. I wish they knew how you always cry and beg me not to leave you.”
She continued with a controversial statement that has since set social media on fire:
“You always cry and say you once ran m@d. How do they expect me to dump you with your mental illness after all, you are my kids’ father.”
Responding directly to Portable’s allegation that she assaulted his wife, Ashabi flatly denied it and called out Bewaji for staying silent.
“I h@te false allegations. You said I went to b€@t your wife? We have never stood face-to-face before. Let her come out and say that I, Ashabi, came to her house to beat her up.”
She concluded by making her stance clear about her position in Portable’s life:
“I prefer to remain a babymama than collecting a ring in a disrespectful way.”
